Sardines

Sardines is a variation of the old hide-and-seek game that is fun for players of all ages. Will you be the last player to find the hiding place?

Age: All ages

No. of players: 4 or more

Equipment: None

Time: 10 minutes+

Aim: To find the missing person.

Sardines is an active game that can be played by people of all ages although it is especially enjoyed by children. It can be played at any time but is particularly suitable for Valentines Day parties. It requires no equipment or set up, although a house with lots of hiding places is helpful.

1. One player is chosen to be the first to quietly find a hiding place while the remaining players wait for about five minutes. The hiding place should be large enough to hide all the players.

2. At the end of five minutes the rest of the players spread out and try to find the first player.

3. Any player who finds the hiding place waits until no one else can see them and then joins the player/s who are already there. As more and more players join the hiding place it may become rather 'cosy', hence the name of the game. Players who are hiding must keep very still and quiet.

4. The last player to find the hiding place becomes the first player for the next round.
