Snip

Snip is a word game for adults and older children who can spell and recognise the first letter of words and who have a reasonable vocabulary.

Age: Adults and older children

No. of players: 6 or more

Equipment: None

Time: 5 minutes+

Aim: The aim is to name three words, beginning with specific letters, in a certain time limit.

1. Players sit in a circle, with one player standing in the middle. The central player points to one of the players, says and spells a three letter word, before counting at a moderate pace to twelve and saying "Snip!" During this time, the player must name three words, in order, whose initials start with the three letters of the word.

2. For example, the central player says, "Dog, D-O-G, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 Snip!" During this time the other player could say, "Doughnut, Orange, Goat" or any other words that start with the letters D-O-G.

3. If they are successful, the player stays where they are and the central player chooses another word and another player. If they are unsuccessful, players swap places.
