Stand Up

Stand Up is an ice breaker game for large groups. It is best played at the beginning of the party or meeting to break the ice and let people get to know each other better.

Age: All ages

No. of players: Large groups

Equipment: List of questions

Time: 5+ minutes

Aim: To have fun while getting to know each other better.

This is very easy to play although you may need to be selective about which questions you ask your group if some people are sensitive to personal questions.

1. Players are seated, either in a circle or in rows, depending on the party or meeting.

2. The Leader asks a series of questions and players stand up if the statement applies to them. Players then sit down ready for the next question.

Stand up if ...

    you shaved this morning
    you are left handed
    you own a cat
    you have driven a sports car
    you like carrots

    you forgot to use deodorant this morning
    you keep a set of road rules in your car
    your eyes are two different colours
    your belly button is an 'outie'
    you hate mushrooms

    you have worn a hat in the past week
    you have ever forgotten an important engagement
    you colour match your pegs when hanging clothes to dry
    you drive a manual-transmission car
    you have participated in extreme sports (such as parachuting, abseiling, etc.)

    you have never been out of the country
    you have not checked your emails/phone messages today
    you own red shoes
    you have watched any movie more than five times
    you don't drink tea or coffee

    you own more than one computer
    you do not own a computer at all
    you have read Leo Tolstoy's classic book "War and Peace"
    you brought knitting or crocheting with you today
    you enjoy listening to country music

    you did a random act of kindness for a total stranger in the past week
    you have not looked in a mirror today
    you play a musical instrument
    you grew up in only one house
    you are a two finger (hunt and peck) typist
