Christmas Stocking Story

Christmas Stocking Story is a quiet, non-competitive Christmas game for young children. An adult who is a good story teller needs to lead the game.

Age: Young children

No. of players: 3 or more

Equipment: None

Time: 5 minutes+

Aim: To respond at the right time during a Christmas story.

1. Children sit on the floor in a circle. Each child should be given the name of an item that could be found in a traditional stocking. Examples include a teddy bear, doll, train, colouring book, etc. (If the game is played after their stockings are opened, you may like to mention specific items they received.)

2. An adult begins to tell a story. Every time a child's name is mentioned, or their item is referred to, that child must stand up and turn around before sitting back down. As the Christmas stocking story unfolds, the story-teller should try to include every child's name and item at least once.

3. Whenever the word "stocking" is mentioned, all the children should stand up, turn around and sit down.

4. There are no winners or losers in this game.
