Catch the Chicks is a traditional game played by children in Taiwan. It's a lovely game for young children but is suitable for older children too. An adult may need to supervise the game and ensure all the children enjoy themselves safely.
Age: All ages
No. of players: 4 or more
Equipment: None
Time: 5+ minutes
Aim: To protect the chicks from the eagle.
1. Players choose to be either the eagle, the mother hen or the baby chicks. There is only one eagle and one mother hen but there can be as many chicks as possible.
2. The chicks stand in a row behind mother hen. They don't need to be standing in one straight line but none of the chicks should be in front of or beside the mother hen.
3. The eagle's job is to try and catch a chick while the hen tries to stop the eagle and protect her chicks. She can move around to position herself between the eagle and the chicks but she cannot attack the eagle.
4. If one of the chicks is caught, he or she then becomes the eagle.
