Word Wise

Word Wise is a more challenging game to play using car registration plates.

Age: Adults and older children

No. of players: 2 or more

Equipment: None

Time: 5 minutes+

Aim: The aim is to make a single word containing the letters of a registration plate.

This is a rather challenging traveling game that is suitable for adults and older children with good word skills. The challenge of the game means that it probably best on long car trips with numerous rounds separated by other simpler travel games.

1. Take the letters of the registration plate of the vehicle in front of you or of an oncoming car.

2. Ty to think of a word that contains the letters of the registration plate, ignoring any numbers. The word must contain all the letters in their correct order.

3. For example:

4. Each person scores one point for each letter of their word, so "flower" would score 6 points while "hospital" would score 8 points. The winner is the player with the highest total score after five registration plates.

5. Another round could be played immediately or another travel game could be played with subsequent rounds played later.

VARIATION: The winner for each round is the player with the lowest total score.
